a. Subject Matter
The Journal ACANITS Redes Temáticas en Trabajo Social. It is a Journal edited by the Academia Nacional de Investigación en Trabajo Social, focused on promoting the development of the disciplinary field of Social Work from the dissemination of research results, systematization of social intervention processes, as well as theoretical reflections on issues related to social policy, human development, gender, aging, families, migration, violence, insecurity, among others; which are considered as key issues of social work.
In this sense, the discipline is conceived as a field of professional action, training and research focused on social problems and policies, which provides perspectives and ways of intervention different from other professions and knowledge of action. The journal adopts, as a guideline, the definition of social work approved by the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) and the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), at the meeting in Melbourne (Australia) in 2014:
Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. The principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility, and respect for diversity are central to social work. Supported by social work theories, social sciences, humanities, and indigenous knowledge, social work engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance well-being.
It also provides a space for the dissemination of professional experiences, relevant debates among professionals -not always related to academic debates-, professional development movements, and original and rigorous works by trainees in social work-social intervention (university students in undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work and related fields). The journal will also publish reviews of books, proceedings of scientific meetings and/or doctoral theses, among others. This journal is aimed at researchers in these areas, professionals in social work and, in general, in social, educational and cultural intervention, people with responsibilities in the design, management and evaluation of social policies who wish to base their work on scientific evidence, values and philosophies of social justice, professionals in the training of social professions, and students at higher levels of professional training or research programs.
