  • Revista ACANITS Redes Temáticas en Trabajo Social

    Fifteen years ago, we began this great endeavor that today we know in Mexico as ACANITS (National Academy of Research in Social Work), and seven years ago we launched the vast and ambitious task of organizing the Thematic Research Networks in Social Work. This effort has enabled the development of specialization processes in disciplinary and professional areas and fields of intervention, thereby strengthening our identity as social workers and allowing us to engage in new emerging fields resulting from the changes taking place within society.

    Amid these transformations—between the old and the new—and in the construction of new ways of seeing and doing things in order to contribute to the solution of the major problems faced in Mexico, the Thematic Research Networks in Social Work represent an alternative for understanding and investigating such issues through the use of the scientific method. This approach provides validity and confidence to act with rigor and certainty in social processes that promote change and transformation for those experiencing marginalization, exclusion, and vulnerability.

    Within this framework of new knowledge and ways of knowing, Issue Eight of the ACANITS Journal: Thematic Research Networks in Social Work is presented, bringing together nine major proposals for in-depth analysis and intervention, all of them the result of scientific inquiry.

  • Revista ACANITS Redes Temáticas en Trabajo Social

    The National Academy of Social Work Research, ACANITS, has proposed a collegial work among its members from the creation and consolidation of Thematic Networks of Social Work Research, this journal aims to generate a space for disciplinary reflection with the proposal of empirical research or through systematic reviews and meta-analysis.

    Issue number 4, volume 7 (July-December 2025) of this journal presents a total of seven research papers that address various social issues from qualitative, quantitative and systematic review approaches.

    The Journal ACANITS Thematic Networks in Social Work is a space for disciplinary reflection, in this issue a series of documents are presented that raise theoretical-methodological discussions and present results of research work. In this sense, this issue discusses the analysis of the concept of community, although this perspective or disciplinary method is widely developed in Latin America, the authors analyze the category of community as an analytical category that has been constructed and re-used by various disciplines and professions of the social and human sciences.

    The importance of social assistance as a social work practice is also discussed, in the sense of the need to safeguard the integrity of people in times of vulnerability, exclusion and crisis. In this way, the authors carry out a comparative analysis in two regional contexts to point out how social assistance emerges as a set of rights that the State must guarantee to improve the levels of welfare of the population.

    The Journal ACANITS Redes Temáticas en Trabajo Social, has also generated spaces for undergraduate and graduate students to participate, in this issue there is a paper that addresses the reconfiguration of the intervention process in the area of Social Work in the first line of care of Covid-19 in a General Hospital in Sinaloa, the results suggest that after a health crisis new areas of research and disciplinary intervention arise. This paper proposes a diagnosis of marginalized children in the north of Mexico. The material conditions of social and economic inequality may limit the capabilities of those who have fewer resources; however, a positive educational and family environment contributes to the balanced development of infants.

    The last paper presents a reflection on the methodological application at the individual and family levels in the process of family breakdown and the right to food. This document critically points out the knowledge, processes, techniques and instruments articulated in professional practices in institutions of procurement and administration of justice. This issue undoubtedly meets the specifications of the journal by showing traditional, potential and emerging topics of social work in areas such as: family, education, health, justice and the disciplinary space itself.

  • Thematic Networks in Social Work

    Research in the area of Social Work is becoming particularly relevant in our current contexts, where gender, health, migration, families and the elderly are the central axis of study, not only to know, but also to propose intervention strategies from the discipline of social work.
    Within this framework of approaching the socioeconomic, political, cultural and environmental reality, the National Academy of Social Work Research has proposed this space so that from the disciplinary reflections in traditional, potential and emerging areas, researchers can present their research results with the purpose of promoting theoretical, methodological and practical discussion.
    In this sense, it is important to remember that the objective of the REVISTA ACANITS REDES TEMÁTICAS EN TRABAJO SOCIAL is to initiate and open a space for debate and disciplinary discussion on the basis of knowledge and disciplinary practice, in a perspective of theory/practice interrelation. To this end, the JOURNAL integrates eight thematic axes: Gender, Family, Aging, Health, Migration, Justice, Intervention and Studies on the Discipline.

    Issue 5, July - December 2024, presents six articles by outstanding researchers in different topics; all of them are Full Time Professors from different Institutions of Higher Education in Social Work in Mexico. It is worth mentioning that the articles included in this issue were double blind judged by the Editorial Board of the National Academy of Social Work Research.

    La Academia Nacional de Investigación en Trabajo Social tiene como objetivo fomentar la investigación social en México desde el enfoque de Trabajo Social con la finalidad de abordar el análisis de las problemáticas sociales y proponer alternativas de intervención.

    En esta perspectiva la investigación disciplinar favorece la retroalimentación teórica/práctica y la construcción de metodologías que permitan generar respuestas a las problemáticas microsociales de los grupos, las familias y las localidades con las que se interactúa.

    Asimismo la discusión teórica y la retroalimentación profesional y metodológica que se aborda en la REVISTA ACANITS, REDES TEMÁTICAS EN TRABAJO SOCIAL, permitirá un acercamiento entre los investigadores, académicos y profesionales en la construcción de teorías y metodologías que fortalezcan el desarrollo de la disciplina; debido a que los enfoques teóricos y metodológicos, pocas veces se han discernido en la disciplina y el ejercicio de la profesión, involucrado mínimamente a la academia y a la investigación en la toma de decisiones, situación que limita e incide de manera desfavorable en el desarrollo de Trabajo Social.

    Es importante señalar que el objetivo de la REVISTA ACANITS REDES TEMÁTICAS EN TRABAJO SOCIAL es iniciar y abrir un espacio de debate y discusión disciplinar sobre la base del conocimiento y de la práctica disciplinar, en una perspectiva de interrelación teoría/práctica. Para ello, la REVISTA está compuesta por siete ejes temáticos: Género, Familia, Envejecimiento, Salud, Migración, Intervención y Estudios sobre la Disciplina.

    El Número 4, enero – junio de 2024, se presentan siete artículos de destacadas investigadoras, profesores de tiempo completo de diversas Instituciones de Educación Superior de Trabajo Social en México en temas diversos, cabe destacar que los Artículos que integran este número, fueron dictaminados a doble ciego por el Consejo Editorial de la Academia Nacional de Investigación en Trabajo Social.

  • Problemáticas actuales en el marco de la globalización

    Un aspecto fundamental de la disciplina de Trabajo Social es la producción de información y conocimiento a través de la reflexión teórico-práctica de su quehacer, en este sentido la Academia Nacional de Investigación en Trabajo Social plantea la necesidad de discutir y abordar problemáticas sociales que aquejan a nuestra sociedad y proponer alternativas de solución, mediante proyectos, programas o modelos en sus diversos niveles de intervención social: individual, familiar, grupal y/o comunitario.

    Desde este espacio es grato observar que profesionales se involucran, comprometen y comparten sus diversas experiencias. En este sentido, esta obra cumple uno de sus objetivos, generar un espacio de reflexión en torno a la teoría y práctica disciplinar en un momento histórico lleno de incertidumbre y donde las transformaciones y crisis están a la orden del día en los contextos nacionales e internacionales.
