El que hacer de las humanidades: un reto para las instituciones

Los términos “humanista” y “humanidades” tienen múltiples interpretaciones. Se denomina en ocasiones humanista al que publica versos, a quien con generosidad aporta recursos para una noble causa o, incluso a aquel que detesta las matemáticas, no le gustan porque es un humanista. Se llama también con este calificativo a quien aprendió alguna vez que etimologías griegas o latinas o cultiva las disciplinas que algunos califican francamente inútiles. Tal es la confusión del término que aquí se trata.
