Abstract

The development of the article elucidates various theoretical perspectives on the advantage for Social Work of conducting studies with a hybrid perspective that helps to know and understand the phenomena in a holistic and integral way. The combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches in a mixed research design reflects the new trend and need of the social sciences in the sense of transcending positivist studies, which until recently were the only valid studies, to move towards knowledge of social reality with a more humanistic approach that combines the generality of the data and the meaning of the experience of those who are immersed in the research. For this purpose, the methodology implemented in the research project "Building resilience to psychosocial risks in the social interaction of children and adolescents (NNA) in mobility in Saltillo, Coahuila, is taken as a reference. The study was carried out with the population in mobility, specifically with children and adolescents and their families in transit and in refuge, as well as with the institutional caregivers who offer them care, represented by the staff of the Casa del Migrante and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) through the Office of Durable Solutions located in the same city. In this way, the present proposal revolves around proposing the viability of mixed models, reflecting and discussing the theory behind it and, at the same time, elucidating the procedure carried out during the research, as a methodological alternative in studies of a similar nature.
